Teacher Appreciation Cookies

It's no secret to anyone in my life that I do not like excess junk.  I don't like accumulating STUFF that just sits in my house without a purpose.  So again with my mantra that cookies are personal, memorable, AND consumable gifts (especially for the teachers out there that get 16 "A+ Teacher!" mugs at the end of each school year), I make cookies for my kids' teachers.  Lots of parents resort to gift cards, and I think those are great but lacking a personal touch.  The cookies I make show the teachers in my life that I care enough to take the time to make them a personal gift, and that I also care about their need for less junk accumulation, haha.  I have lots of orders for these at the end of each school year, and I really enjoy having fun with the designs.  I made a lot of designs similar to last year's teacher cookies, but I also added these woodgrain rulers that I really enjoy the look of.  Thanks for a great 2014/15 school year to all the teachers in our lives!  See you in the fall!

Lego Minifig Colouring Cookies

Last year for my son's birthday I had a great time making blank Lego minifig cookies for the party guests to personalize with Wilton FoodWriter markers.  This year, I did the same thing and they were met with the same reaction from the kids.  SO much fun for everyone to unleash their creativity and at the same time have a tasty treat.  I use these cookies as their party favours as well; they are consumable, they are tasty, they are something personal, and they fit the party theme.  What's not to love about these little guys?  I'm a huge believer in consumable gifts (or else I wouldn't be baking!), and my kids get WAY too much dollar store junk from parties that just end up in the garbage.

Balloon Cookies!

I really enjoy the simplicity and boldness of balloon cookies.  They are great additions to the dessert table for birthdays or anniversaries.  I did some light blue, platinum, and teal birthday cookies as well as some multi-coloured balloons for the twentieth anniversary of my favourite kitchen store in town!

Blingy Bridal Shower Cookies

I was asked to make some hot pink, grey, and silver bridal shower cookies for a bride that loves the bling.  Rings, dresses, cakes, and accent cookies were the perfect addition to the treats at the shower.

Woodsy Wedding Cookies

I had a great time making some cookies for a wedding recently!  The theme was woodsy and crafty and gave me a great chance to get creative. I did some simple leaves and woodgrain cookies, and after helping the bride do up her bouquets with flowers that she made herself with felt and buttons, I was inspired to make burlap and button flower cookies (above), and I love how they turned out! Then I took my previous owl cookies and instead of owls I added nests with hearts inside to make "love nest" cookies (below).
