More Christmas Cookies!

...and on and on and on it goes!  I have so many more than what I can possibly post, but here are a couple more designs that are new to this year.

Christmas Cookie Chaos!

I'm in full swing these days, baking and decorating up a storm!  Here is just a bit of what I turned out this week:

"Dot & Drag" Snowflakes inspired by SweetAmbs, lightbulbs, mittens, assorted modern silver cookies, and the cookie sheet cookies (my personal favourite of the week).

Hockey Cookies!

I was asked to make some hockey cookies for the kids on a local team.  Our household isn't really that into hockey, so I struggled a little with trying to find the right designs.  I'm so thankful that other cookiers like me post their cookies for inspiration, and that internet clip art is great for making royal icing transfers!  These cookies are what I came up with.  Square jerseys with each player's number, nets, skates, and pucks!
Nets inspired by iBakery, and pucks inspired by Custom Cakes by Alana.

Vintage Tea Party Silhouette Cookies

I was asked to do some black, ivory, and baby pink cookies for a vintage tea party.  In a struggle of what to think up for 2 dozen designs, the lady I made them for mentioned that I should see about making some silhouettes.  I ran with that and got so excited with the finished product!

I then made other cookies to match which were equally as fun to do and fantastic as an end result.
I took so many pictures of these ones, I loved them all!

Christmas Is Comingggg!

Heading into the busy season of Christmas, after other projects I'm finally getting started on my first few Christmas cookies.  Starting with the snowflakes!

Pink & Purple Flowers

I made pink and purple flowers for a fairy-themed birthday party this weekend.  Flowers are always fun for me.  I made leaves to compliment the flowers, and rather than making the usual baby blue water droplets on them, I made sparkly pink ones just to add a little whimsy.

Thanksgiving/Fall Cookies

I've never been a fan of making turkey-themed cookies for Thanksgiving, but I've always loved the look of fall cookies on the table with Thanksgiving dessert.  The designs match the pumpkin pie, and the leftover cookies (if there ever are any!) can be used all season long.  Last year I made the sunflowers and acorns along with the airbrushed leaves.  This year I added some apples for extra colour.

Karate Cookies

There are so many things I can do with the Ninjabread Men cookie cutters by Fred & Friends.  I've had so much fun with them making Ninjago cookies, and with my son now getting into karate, I whipped up a few of these karate cookies just for fun.

Dark Purple & Mauve

I love the combination of these colors with the white and green accents.

Wheat Farming Cake and Cupcakes

This weekend I did a cake and cupcakes for a gentleman's 65th birthday.  The party organizer told me that he drives John Deere equipment and farms wheat.  With that, I wanted to make something simple.

I started with making these wheat head medallions with royal icing to adorn the cupcakes and cake.  I went with wheat heads as the décor and John Deere colours.  It really came together nicely.  The cake was so tall that much of the side was laid bare out of fear of over-decorating.

Pink & Flowery

For my Grandma's 80th Birthday party we went with all kinds of pinks and all kinds of flowers.  I had a blast making these ones.

Ice Cream & Coo-Keys

Because I can't think of two things that are more closely related.  Ha ha.

I got a few new cookie cutters a while ago, baked away and then froze them until I had the time to decorate.  I took these two designs out yesterday and went for it.  For the ice cream I used sanding sugar for both the flooding and then the finishing outlines too.  It added the depth I wanted.  I went with the gold pearl dust on the keys to make them sparkle; I tried to take a sunny picture to show that.  I'm not 100% sure what events I'd use the keys for, maybe a housewarming or moving party, but they were fun to make!

More Mario

The more I make Mario cookies, the more designs I aim to make.  The great thing about making cookies for this theme is that the designs are simple and easy to decorate.  A few star-shaped cookies among plain squares and circles, and you're good to go.  As long as you go bright and bold, you can't go wrong!

Ladybugs & Leaves

Some cute ladybugs and leaves, the design inspired by my favorite cookier, Sugarbelle.

Apple Cookies

I got some new cookie cutters, and it's time to try out some random stuff.
Here are some apples, deep red like a red delicious!  I added some green airbrushing to give it some shading.

Monster Truck Mayhem!

I was given the task this week of making a simple monster truck themed cake with a side of cupcakes.  In favor of the simple, I decided to make some tasty chocolate cupcakes with vanilla icing and top them with a monster truck tire cookie as the decoration.  I liked making the tire cookies the best, so I decided to take step-by-step pictures of the cookie making process.
I came up with a relatively easy method to make tire cookies with some cutters I already had.  I cut out the flowers first, then used my circle cutter to cut the middles out, leaving little nubs for the look I wanted.
Then I put a circle of the usual royal icing (just a little thicker than flood icing) in the centre and added some sugar pearls to give depth to the tire rims.

Next I sprayed the middles with Duff silver cake graffiti for the metallic look.  This isn't my favorite way to make the metallic sparkle, but rather than dig out my paintbrush and silver pearl dust I went for the quick spray.
Here's what they looked like when the spray dried.  Nice shiny rims.  The icing collapsed a bit in the middle, but I didn't mind the depth it added so I just went with it.
Next, I outlined the tires in piping icing (I don't do this every time I flood cookies, but I wanted to add a little extra texture to the out side of the tires), using an Ateco #1 tip.
I finished the tires with flood icing and let them dry.
Once I made the cupcakes, I added the tires on the top and they were ready to go!  A simple and tasty addition to tie the theme in.

Here's the monster truck cake that they went with.  I had a toy monster truck for the top of the cake, but if I had put it on the cake before taking it with me, it wouldn't have fit in the box!  So I opted to keep the truck in it's package, which means you'll have to use your imagination and picture a monster truck on top of the ramp I made!

Black, White, And Silver Cookies

My love affair with greyscale art is widely celebrated in my home décor.  I've always loved the clean look of black & white designs, and I especially like a touch of silver in there.  I decided to do some greyscale cookies after I was finishing some pictures of my previous cookies and ran my mouse over the black & white filter button on my photo software.  I took one look and knew that I had to play with it immediately!

Spring Cookies

Yesterday was the first day of Spring, and I'm excited to get into the coming season!

I don't know about where you are, but where I live, yesterday gave us a foot and a half of snow.  While the snow was coming down outside I stayed warm by listening to my favorite music, sipping my coffee, and decorating cookies.  I decided to experiment with the line-drawing-basket-weave type of design that I've seen on various cookie blogs, and I'm super excited with the finished product.

St. Patrick's Day Rainbows

I really gravitated to the rainbows while I was decorating these, completely ignoring the pots of gold at the end.  I'm not sorry.
